The City of Auburn completed a number of upgrades to improve wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) performance, add process redundancy, and comply with new permit limitations. The City’s primary objective was to construct a new oxidation ditch (a large aeration basin) to replace the WWTP’s older existing oxidation ditch. Other facilities that were constructed to complete the secondary treatment process included: new mechanical fine screens to remove small plastics and hair that made it through the secondary process in the past and impacted process performance, a new alkalinity feed system, a new influent pump station, and a new return sludge pump station.
NEXGEN provided services and support throughout the process, from the initial permitting and planning phases, to financial planning and design, bid support through construction management, and final operations support with start-up of the new facilities.
